Image ReducerBild-Kompressor & Konverter

Terms of Service

Effective date: set on production go-live.

Dieses Rechtsdokument wird auf Englisch bereitgestellt; die englische Fassung ist maßgeblich.

The short version
Image Reducer is a free tool that runs entirely in your browser — you compress, convert, crop, rotate, or resize an image on your own device, and we never see or store your image. No accounts, no sign-up, no payment. There are no ads in this version — Section 9 explains what happens if that ever changes. Use the tool lawfully, with images you own or have the right to edit, and you’re all set. We provide it "as is," without guarantees, and our liability is limited as described in Section 8. Our explains what little data we do collect and how you control it. This short version is just a summary — the full Terms below are what actually govern your use.
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and ZIX DEV Inc, a Delaware corporation with its registered address at 1111B S Governors Ave STE 40023, Dover, DE 19904, United States ("ZIX DEV," "we," "us," or "our"). They cover your use of image-reducer.com, marketed as Image Reducer (the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it. You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and able to legally enter into this agreement.
2. What Image Reducer is
Image Reducer is a free, browser-based tool for compressing, converting, and lightly editing images. You can reduce a file to a target size or quality level, convert between common formats, crop, rotate, flip, and resize — one image at a time or as a batch, downloading results individually or as a single ZIP. No accounts, no sign-up, no payment.
Everything happens on your device. When you add an image, it’s processed inside your own browser; we don’t upload it to, or store it on, any server we operate, and the Service is built so that no image byte needs to leave your device to use it. That said, we don’t control your device, browser, operating system, extensions, or network — we can describe how our own code behaves, but we can’t warrant the overall privacy or security outcome of your session, since that also depends on things outside our control. See our for a fuller explanation, and Section 7 (No warranty) for how this qualification applies.
The Service is free today, with no advertising. If either of those ever changes — a paid tier, or advertising — we’ll update these Terms and the site first (Section 9, Section 11).
3. Your privacy
Our explains what information we do (and don’t) collect — including your saved language and theme preference, and our analytics — and governs your use of the Service alongside these Terms.
4. Using the Service
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to use Image Reducer for your own personal or business purposes, subject to these Terms.
Please only use the Service with images you own, or that you otherwise have the legal right to use, edit, and process. Please don’t:
process content that is illegal, infringing, or otherwise harmful, or that you don’t have the right to process;
use the Service to violate anyone else’s intellectual-property, privacy, or other legal rights;
copy, reverse-engineer, decompile, or build derivative works from the Service’s software, except where the law says we can’t stop you;
resell, sublicense, rent, or pass the Service off as your own product;
remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other notice;
use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to access, overload, disrupt, or probe the Service;
try to get around any technical limit we put in place;
misrepresent your identity or your connection to ZIX DEV Inc, or misrepresent the Service’s affiliation with any other company or product (Section 10).
We may suspend or block access for anyone we reasonably believe is breaking these rules, without prior notice where needed to protect the Service or other users.
5. Your images, your rights
You own your images. Anything you process with Image Reducer — a photo, scan, or other image ("Content") — belongs entirely to you. Because processing happens on your own device, we never receive, see, or store it — there’s nothing for us to claim any right to.
You’re responsible for your Content. You confirm you have the right to process any image you use with the tool, and that doing so doesn’t break the law or violate anyone else’s rights.
We don’t keep a copy of your original file. Because your image never reaches us, we have no backup of it. Keep your own copy of anything important before you edit it — once you close the tab or clear your files, an unsaved original or result may be gone for good.
Preferences. Your chosen language and theme are saved in your own browser (localStorage); nothing is saved until you make a choice, and it is never transmitted to us. Our explains this and how to clear it.
6. Our intellectual property
The Service itself — its software, design, and the "Image Reducer" name and branding — belongs to ZIX DEV Inc or our licensors, and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. These Terms don’t transfer any of that to you; you get only the license in Section 4.
Open source & fonts. Image Reducer’s image-processing pipeline is built on standard, browser-native APIs. The Service uses the self-hosted IBM Plex Sans and IBM Plex Mono typefaces, and, for the Arabic-language interface, the self-hosted Noto Naskh Arabic typeface (subset) — all under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The full attribution notice is published at /THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt. If we add a third-party open-source library or codec in a future build, we’ll list it here.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you agree we can use them without owing you anything.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind — express, implied, or statutory — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent the law allows.
In practice: Image Reducer runs unsupervised in your browser with no human review of your files, so we can’t guarantee a perfect or lossless result. Compressing or converting an image can change its quality, and we don’t warrant that every element of your original file — metadata, EXIF orientation, color profile, or transparency — survives compression, conversion, cropping, rotating, or resizing. Always check your output before you rely on it, especially for anything important — we recommend keeping your own copy of the original (Section 5). We also don’t promise the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or always available, and we don’t warrant any specific outcome regarding the privacy or security of your browsing session, which depends in part on factors outside our control (Section 2).
Some places don’t allow excluding certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you in full.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, ZIX DEV Inc is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, data, or goodwill — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including damage to, or loss of, any image or file you process, and including any consequence of relying on a processed or converted output.
Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of (a) what you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose (currently $0, since the Service is free) or (b) US$100. This cap applies no matter the legal theory (contract, tort, or otherwise), even if we’ve been told such damages were possible.
Some places don’t allow limiting liability this way, so some of this may not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.
9. Advertising, analytics & other third-party services
The Service may link to third-party sites we don’t own or control. We’re not responsible for their content or practices, and a link isn’t an endorsement — you use those sites at your own risk, under their own terms.
Analytics. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (self-hosted Plausible) to understand how the Service is used — it sets no cookies, collects no personal data or cross-site identifiers, needs no consent banner, and never touches your image content. Our explains this in detail.
Advertising. Image Reducer shows no ads and includes no advertising integration in this version — a deliberate choice, not an oversight. If we ever introduce advertising in a future version, that is a material change to these Terms (Section 11) and would be disclosed here before it goes live; any advertising network we might use would be an independent third party, not our agent.
One thing that would never change: no image or file-derived content you process with the Service is ever shared with an advertiser, ad network, or analytics provider.
10. Independence & trademarks
Image Reducer is an independent product operated by ZIX DEV Inc. image-reducer.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Squoosh, TinyPNG, iLoveIMG, Adobe Express, imagereducer.in, or any other third-party company or product referenced for comparison anywhere on this site. Any comparisons we make to those products are factual and are not intended to disparage them.
The product name is always presented as the full "image-reducer.com" domain-form wordmark on primary surfaces (header, page titles, footer) — we don’t present a bare "Reducer" as the sole visible brand element. We don’t use the ® symbol (no U.S. federal trademark registration exists for this name), and we don’t claim to be "the original," "the only," or "the #1" image reducer or compressor — several independent products use a similar name or description, and we make no exclusivity claim.
11. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may add, change, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, since it’s offered free of charge. Introducing advertising, or any paid tier, is itself a material change — we would update these Terms and the site before either goes live, not silently.
We may also update these Terms for other reasons. When we do, we’ll post the new version here and update the "Effective date" above; for material changes, we’ll try to flag it on the site. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using Image Reducer at any time — there’s no account to close and nothing to cancel.
We may suspend or block your access if we reasonably believe you’ve violated these Terms or misused the Service, or if we discontinue it. Sections that should naturally survive — including Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 — continue to apply after your use ends.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Delaware, United States, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
These Terms don’t include a mandatory-arbitration or class-action-waiver clause.
14. General
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and ZIX DEV Inc about the Service, and replace any earlier agreements on this subject; if any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands; our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of our right to do so later; you can’t assign these Terms to someone else, but we may — for example, in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; and we’re not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
